I’m sort of finished for the season but I still have a few mop-up rides to get pix for the new book project.
I took the train from Newcastle on Monday evening and got off at Chathill, the stop past Alnmouth. It was dark by the time I got to the off road section where I was planning to camp on Day 61’s ride to Bamburgh.
And I worked out what the snarling animal must have been from that last camp. Not a wild boar but a badger!
I know that because, in the dark, I nearly ran over a badger. We were both startled; I swore, it snorted and dived off. So, the grunt/snort/semi-screams I heard on Day 61’s ride would fit with that being a badger.
A little further on I found a good, flat spot and rolled out the bivvy. It was a cold but comfortable night.
I was up early the next morning and did a 65 mile ride packed full of history. And got some great pix. The pix, the GPX and the details will be for the book, details of which I am hoping to be able to discuss soon. Sign up for the email alerts to make sure you get info on this book.
