iPhone selfie taken on Sheep Pasture Incline, Cromford, Derbyshire.

This photo was a finalist in the 2024 Travel Photographer of the Year competition. I took it with a Bluetooth remote triggering my tripod-mounted iPhone.

The trail is the historic Sheep Pasture Incline, a steep hill that runs from High Peak Junction to Black Rocks in Cromford, Derbyshire. It’s part of the High Peak Trail and is a former inclined railway line. Cromford is the site of Arkwright’s mills, among the earlier factories of Britain’s Industrial Revolution.

This photo, and many others, will be in my proposed new book “A History of Britain in 100 Cycle Rides.”
